Unlike previous years, you still may be able to find a last-minute boat rental for Memorial Day Weekend.
Fourwinds Marina on Lake Monroe has several boats still available for Saturday, and the threat of rain may be responsible.
Rental manager Adam Delk said several people have cancelled their reservations for what is normally the marina’s first major weekend of summer.
“As far as the boat rentals go, its usually the first weekend that we sell everything out," Delk said. "Although last weekend we were pretty much sold out as well.”
Delk said larger boats tend to be fully booked by the end of April, with some reservations made as early as February and March. Smaller boats tend to fill up by the middle of May.
Fourwinds normally has about 50 boats in its fleet, but currently is operating with about 30. Delk said the marina is adding more.
