Monroe County Lakes Plan Fireworks Celebrations

The B-Town Boom and Ellettsville annual fireworks shows are cancelled for a second year, but Monroe County will have two other Independence Day celebrations.

Lake Lemon Conservancy District will start the Fourth of July weekend off with fireworks in Riddle Point Park at dusk Friday, July 2. Admission is free after 5 p.m., but donations are encouraged. The rain date is July 3.

District Manager Adam Casey said the event will be less restrictive than last year.

“We did have fireworks last year," Casey said. "But the park was closed to the public due to the Monroe County health concerns, so you could only see them by boat.”

Fourwinds Lakeside Inn and Marina on Lake Monroe also will host fireworks at dusk Sunday, July 4. Admission to Fairfax Beach is $7 for in-state residents, and $9 for out-of-state residents.

General manager David Schaum said the show will begin about 9:30 p.m., weather permitting.
