Police Thwart Catalytic Converter Theft Ring

Four Bedford men are facing charges for their role in a theft ring that spanned several counties.

The investigation began January 14th, after a trailer was stolen along River Road in Ft. Ritner, in Southern Lawrence County.

During the investigation, Indiana State Police received reports of other stolen catalytic converters in Lawrence, Monroe, Orange, Washington, Martin, and Dubois Counties.

Adam Brewer, Uriah Stickney, Nicholas Arthur, and Jeffrey Deckard all were arrested Wednesday.

Deckard was charged with stealing a 4-wheeler, while Brewer, Stickney and Arthur were charged with stealing the catalytic converters, and the trailer.

Brewer was also charged with stealing several hundred dollars in tools.

“This theft ring was responsible for tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage and losses,” said ISP Sergeant Greg Day.

Officers from the Lawrence County, Bedford and Mitchell police departments, along with Indiana Conservation officers assisted with the investigation.
