County health administrator Penny Caudill said the expected large crowd will create the perfect opportunity to help get more shots into arms. She said the county’s current vaccination rate is over 54%..

"It is slow and steady, but we do continue to see an increase in the individuals who are fully vaccinated," said Caudill.

Nurses will have mobile vaccine stations in the park with about 100 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

"Everyone over 18 years old and who is not vaccinated yet can come by and get their shot," said Caudill.

Saturday’s celebration will be from 3 to 6:30 p.m., rain or shine.

Starting Monday, the Monroe County Public Health Clinic on Miller Drive will begin its “Moderna Mondays” vaccine program.

"That is going to be channeled into our normal vaccine operations moving forward," said Caudill.

Residents can sign up for an appointment at ourshot.in.gov or call 211.
