Indiana COVID-19 Hospitalizations Hit Record Low

COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to increase with 1,138 Hoosiers hospitalized due to the virus.

Health officials in Indiana reported 230 new COVID-19 cases and four new deaths Thursday, along with the lowest number of virus-related hospitalizations since March 2020.

The Indiana Department of Health’s latest numbers showed 13,396 total confirmed deaths and 752,395 positive cases since the pandemic began.

The seven-day positivity rate is 2.2% Thursday, down from 2.3% Wednesday. Just 391 Hoosiers are hospitalized with the virus - the lowest number since the beginning of the pandemic.

The state has also administered more than 5.5 million vaccine doses, and more than 2.7 million Hoosiers are fully vaccinated.

In Monroe County, health officials reported 10 new positive cases and no additional deaths. County officials have reported 12,236 cases and 176 deaths since the pandemic began.

Monroe County's seven-day positivity rate is 2.7% Thursday, up from 2.5% Wednesday, and 20 people are hospitalized with the virus in Monroe County-area hospitals.
