Indiana Continues Rollback Of Daily COVID-19 Data Reporting

COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to increase with 1,138 Hoosiers hospitalized due to the virus.
COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to increase with 1,138 Hoosiers hospitalized due to the virus.

The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) announced Friday that it will no longer update its COVID-19 case and vaccine dashboards on Saturdays, moving to a five-day reporting schedule.

Just two weeks ago, IDOH announced it would stop reporting new COVID-19 data on Sundays. This comes as public health experts say states should continue daily data updates, despite declining cases, hospitalizations and deaths.

On Friday, officials reported 247 new COVID-19 cases and three new deaths. Indiana's virus-related hospitalizations hit a record low for the second day in a row.

IDOH's latest numbers showed 13,399 total confirmed deaths and 752,699 positive cases since the pandemic began.

The seven-day positivity rate is 2.2% Friday, and just 369 Hoosiers are hospitalized with the virus - the lowest number since the beginning of the pandemic.

The state has also administered more than 5.5 million vaccine doses, and more than 2.7 million Hoosiers are fully vaccinated.

In Monroe County, health officials reported six new positive cases and one new death. County officials have reported 12,242 cases and 177 deaths since the pandemic began.

Monroe County's seven-day positivity rate is 2.5% Friday, down from 2.7% Thursday, and 18 people are hospitalized with the virus in Monroe County-area hospitals.
