Indiana Reports 249 New COVID-19 Cases, 5 Deaths Thursday

Health officials in Indiana reported 249 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths Thursday.

The Indiana Department of Health’s latest numbers showed 13,431 total confirmed deaths and 754,317 positive cases since the pandemic began.

There have been 196 confirmed cases of the Delta variant reported in Indiana.

The seven-day positivity rate is 2.2% Thursday, up from 2.1% Wednesday, and 404 Hoosiers are hospitalized with the virus.

The state has also administered more than 5.6 million vaccine doses, and more than 2.8 million Hoosiers are fully vaccinated.

In Monroe County, health officials reported four new positive cases and no additional deaths. County officials have reported 12,274 cases and 177 deaths since the pandemic began.

Monroe County's seven-day positivity rate is 2.2% Thursday, up from 2.1% Wednesday, and 19 people are hospitalized with the virus in Monroe County-area hospitals.

More than 55% Monroe County's eligible population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
