Bloomington To Continue Coronavirus Wastewater Testing Through Fall

The City of Bloomington is continuing its program testing wastewater for levels of coronavirus.

Carmel began testing last year, and was the first in Indiana to do so.

Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton said the city is collecting samples in two wastewater plants.

While levels have been and are currently relatively low, experts say a spike of coronavirus levels in wastewater could predict an outbreak.

“We have not seen any spikes, indeed they’ve all been at a very low number consistently, which is encouraging,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton said the city plans to continue the program through at least this fall.
