Program To Provide Empowerment, Leadership Opportunities For Young Women Of Color

Voces en Acción or Voices in Action, is designed for young women between the ages of 12 and 24. Latina, Black and Indigenous girls can apply for this program.

It includes lessons on artistic expression such as music, painting, dance, photogrpahy, cuisine, creative writing and skill development. They will also learn about resume building, entrance to college and scholarship opportunities.

Program coordinator Arcea Zapata de Aston said the program is designed for them to explore their voices and be able to support other young women.

“Give those girls opportunities to listen to ways to become better human beings, to become better women, to understand their position in society, to be themselves, to know how to be a leader and have their own voice,” Zapata de Aston said.

Meetings will be held at the Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science intermittently from July 19 to Nov. 12. For more information, go to www.educaeducation.org.
