Indiana health officials reported 586 new COVID-19 cases today, down from yesterday but higher than any number recorded in June.
The Indiana Department of Health also confirmed one new death. The latest numbers showed 13,513 total confirmed deaths and more than 759,000 positive cases since the pandemic began.
There have been 274 confirmed cases of the Delta variant reported in Indiana, which is one more than Wednesday.
The seven-day positivity rate of 4.3 percent is up from 4.1 percent Wednesday and 3.9 percent Tuesday. The state recorded 443 Hoosiers hospitalized with the virus. The state’s seven-day positivity rate has been increasing since a June 22nd low of 1.9 percent.
The state also has administered more than 5.7 million vaccine doses, and more than 2.8 million Hoosiers are fully vaccinated.
Monroe County health officials reported 12 new positive cases and no additional deaths. County officials have reported 12,400 cases and 178 deaths since the pandemic began. The county’s seven-day positivity rate was 4.9 percent Thursday, which is a jump from 3.8 percent Wednesday.
Monroe County Health Administrator Penny Caudill said the increase is notable and could be explained in part by recent increases in daily cases. She said if the increase continues, the county could return to a yellow advisory on the state COVID-19 dashboard.
Thirteen people are hospitalized with the virus in Monroe County-area hospitals.
More than 55.9 percent of Monroe County's eligible population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Owen County remains in the state’s yellow ranking for COVID spread, with a seven-day all-test positivity rate of 5.5 percent.
