Indiana Senator Mike Braun is co-sponsoring the Travel Mask Mandate Repeal Act of 2021.

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced the legislation Thursday. Three other GOP Senators and a GOP Congressman are also co-sponsoring the bill.

“It is far, far past time to end the federal government’s contradictory one-size-fits-all COVID mandates, including the rule requiring masks on planes and public transportation,” said Braun.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued the mask mandate on January 29 th, 2021. It applies to those traveling by air, rail and interstate bus, as well as ride share services.

Senator Paul’s proposal comes as several states and municipalities are seeing an uptick in the COVID-19 Delta variant.
