BPD Responds To Third Shooting This Month In Crestmont Park Neighborhood

Multiple shots were fired around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday night in the Crescent Bend neighborhood on Bloomington's northwest side.

Bloomington police report no injuries or property damage at the scene, but police did find bullets and shell casings nearby.

This is the third shooting in the area this month, following incidents that injured four people July 2 and July 8 at the Crestmont Park playground.

"We are deeply concerned about these shootings and will not tolerate this activity anywhere in Bloomington," said Mayor John Hamilton in a press release. "Public safety is my first responsibility, and we are committed to do all that we can to protect our residents wherever we live, work, or play."

Local law enforcement is investigating these events with help from both federal and state agencies. The city said it will increase police presence and foot patrols in the neighborhood to ensure residents are protected.

BPD is encouraging anyone with information about these crimes to contact the department.
