Monroe County health officials reported eight new positive cases today and no additional deaths. County officials have reported 12,474 cases and 178 deaths since the pandemic began. The county’s seven-day positivity rate Wednesday is 5.9 percent, up from 5.6 percent yesterday, and 4.6 percent at the start of the week.
Twenty-one people are hospitalized with the virus in Monroe County-area hospitals.
More than 56 percent of Monroe County's eligible population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Indiana health officials reported 878 new COVID-19 cases today. This total surpasses Wednesday’s 731 new cases and Tuesday’s 713 new cases – both of which were July’s previous highs.
The Indiana Department of Health recorded one new death Thursday. The state’s COVID-19 dashboard shows total deaths since the pandemic began as 13,535.

The state also reported more than 762,000 positive cases since the pandemic began. The state reported 551 Hoosiers hospitalized with the virus Thursday.
The seven-day positivity rate is 5.4 percent, up from Wednesday’s 5.2 percent, and up from 4.5 percent last Friday. The state’s seven-day positivity rate has been increasing since a low of 1.9 percent June 22.
The state has administered nearly 5.8 million vaccine doses, and more than 2.9 million Hoosiers are fully vaccinated.
