NOAA Weather Radio (NWR) station WXM-78 in Bloomington will be off the air until further notice due to technical difficulties. A solution is being sought but could take some time, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards is a nationwide network of radio stations broadcasting continuous weather information directly from the nearest NWS office. This network, alongside the Emergency Alert System, issues warnings and post-event information for all hazard types, including earthquakes, oil spills, and AMBER alerts.
This station covers Brown, Greene, Lawrence, Martin, Monroe, and Orange counties. While this specific station may be down, other radio transmitters serving similar and even the same areas with weather alerts and warnings include Bedford, Indianapolis, Putnamville, and Seymour.
Temperatures are rising again, with forecast peaks in the low 90s for the first half of next week. Heat indices, or what it feels like outside, will return to the upper 90s and lower triple digits. In addition to the heat, scattered showers may sweep across the state beginning Sunday and continuing through Thursday. Less than half an inch is possible through Sunday.
