Police: Student Admitted To IU Dies Before Move To Campus

State Health Commissioner Dr. Kris Box says the percentage of COVID-19 cases among 18- to 30-year-olds is rising.

A student admitted to Indiana University died before arriving on campus, an IU Police Department official said Saturday.

Deputy Chief Shannon Bunger said the IU Dean of Students office notified police of the death. Bunger said the death wasn’t on campus or in Bloomington.

The dean’s office didn’t immediately return calls over the weekend.

The Indiana Daily Student newspaper identified the student as freshman Devyn Williams.

IU students began moving onto campus last weekend. Fall 2021 classes start Monday.
