An Indiana State University freshman was found dead Sunday on campus.
The ISU Police Department reported that the roommates of 18-year-old Dylan McConkey, from Peotone, IL, found the student at a dorm.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to Dylan’s family,” said Deborah J. Curtis, ISU president, in an emailed statement. “This is a terrible tragedy, and we offer our most fervent thoughts and prayers to his family.”
The statement added that the ISU and Terre Haute police departments were investigating along with the Vigo County Coroner’s Office.
It said the university was in touch with McConkey’s family and offering counseling to students.

The freshman was the second Indiana college student to be reported dead ahead of the fall semester.
On Saturday, a campus police official said that a student admitted to Indiana University died before arriving on campus.
IU Police Department Deputy Chief Shannon Bunger said the Dean of Students office notified police of the death. Bunger said the death wasn’t in Bloomington.
The dean’s office didn’t immediately return calls over the weekend.
The Indiana Daily Student newspaper identified the student as freshman Devyn Williams.
IU students began moving onto campus last weekend. Fall classes start Monday.
