IU Health Bloomington’s new hospital and academic center will open Dec. 5, three years after breaking ground in 2018.

The new facility, located on the 45/46 bypass will replace the one downtown on Second Street – where the hospital had been located for more than a century.

The announcement aligns with past statements from IU Health officials, who said the health center would open in late 2021.

The new facility will be 622,000 square feet, which makes it 80,000 square feet larger than the current hospital.
