Monroe County reports 94 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, most since January

Monroe County is reporting increased COVID-19 cases in the last week.

Thursday, 94 new COVID-19 cases were added to the county dashboard run by the Indiana Department of Health.

Monroe County Health administrator Penny Caudill says that’s the most cases reported since January 2021. Friday, 74 new cases were reported in Monroe County.

“Mask wearing indoors and in crowded situations is waning and it is clear people are not staying home when they are sick,” Caudill said,

Caudill said over half of the county’s eligible population is vaccinated. She says 400 five- to eleven-year-olds in the county are fully vaccinated and 2,400 have received their first dose.
