IU to sell beer at baseball and softball games

Fans will be able to buy beer at Indiana University baseball and softball games this season, the university announced Monday.

IU said it is extending its agreement with Upland Brewery to provide beer sales at Bart Kaufman Field and Andy Mohr Field. Upland has been providing beer and wine at Memorial Stadium for football games since 2019.

"We're excited to offer this new option to IU baseball and softball fans as we continue to enhance the gameday experience at our athletic events," IU athletic director Scott Dolson said in a news release. "The response from our fans has been overwhelmingly positive about this option at IU football games, and we are excited to extend this opportunity to IU baseball and softball fans as well."

The announcement comes the day before the Hoosiers are scheduled to host Miami (Ohio) in their baseball home opener at Bart Kaufman Field.

Along with selling beer, the university will have “provisions to encourage responsible fan behavior and promote alcohol safety.” Anyone who appears younger than 50-years-old will be require to show an ID.

Beer sales will end before the bottom of the seventh inning in nine-inning baseball games and at the top of the fifth for seven-inning softball games. There will be a two-drink limit per transaction.
