Monroe County voters will have a handful of local, state, and congressional candidates to pick during the May primary. Contested races in the Republican and Democratic primaries include U.S. and state representatives, county sheriff, and county commissioner.
The winners of each party’s primary election on May 3 will face off in Indiana’s general election Nov. 8. Nonpartisan school board candidates will appear on the ballot in the November general election.

Important dates before Indiana’s primary elections:
- April 4 is the last day to register to vote or update voter registration.
- April 5 is the first day of early, in-person voting.
- April 21 is the last day to request an absentee ballot by mail.
