Incumbent Lee Jones (D) will face Perry B. Robinson (R) in the November election for Monroe County Commissioner District 1 seat after winning her primary Tuesday over challenger Dominic Thompson.
She’s served for the last three years as county commissioner and won 61 percent of the votes compared to 39 percent from Thompson.

She said if she wins in November it will be her last term as commissioner. She added much of her first term was dominated by helping respond to the COVID-19 crisis but is proud of her involvement helping establish a crisis diversion center in Bloomington.
"While I made some headway on pretty important things during my first year, a whole lot of things got stalled during COVID when we were totally focused on bringing the community through it," she said.

Thompson served on the Bloomington Housing Quality Appeals and has worked with multiple Democratic originations in southern Indiana.
Should Jones win in November, she plans to focus on improving housing options in the county and supporting people who are incarcerated.
