Owen County Auditor Sheila Reeves resigned earlier this week, expressing frustration with the position and work environment. In the letter, Reeves said she is leaving both her elected position as auditor and as vice-chair for the county Republican party.
During her 16-month tenure, Reeves said she worked seven days a week and did not see any positive changes.
“I have tried my best to do the job and work with all parties involved for the betterment of Owen County,” Reeves wrote in the letter. “Unfortunately, I feel the continued lack of communication, working together, scheming and conniving is absolutely at its worst.”
Reeves said she is not a quitter, but that she found it difficult to do her job as multiple issues kept arising.

Party Chair Tony Voelker did not want to comment on her claims but said she will be missed.
“Of course, I'm sad to see her go,” Voelker said. “She's been a fantastic pillar county employee for a lot of years.”
The county party is now accepting applications from Republicans in good standing to replace both of her positions, Voelker continued.
Reeves declined to comment further.
