A 21-year-old Bloomington woman was flown by Lifeline helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital Monday night after suffering multiple gunshot wounds outside her apartment.
According to a Bloomington Police Department news release, the woman and a 17-year-old male were standing outside the apartment in the 1200 block of North Maple Street when multiple shots were fired at them from the parking lot area. It’s not known how many people were shooting or how many shots were fired, police said.
A car sped away from the area after the shooting, but police said it is unknown if it was involved in the shooting.
Police arrived just before 11 p.m., found the woman inside the apartment and administered emergency care until an ambulance arrived and transported her to IU Health Bloomington. She was then flown to Indianapolis where her condition is unknown.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
