Man killed, two injured in weekend crash on I-69 ramp

One man was killed and 5-year-old boy injured in a traffic accident Saturday at the south I-69 on-ramp at State Road 46.

Bloomington police responded to the accident and found a small truck on the guardrail with the man and his son trapped inside. Police did not release their names in a news release Monday afternoon.

The news release said Bloomington Fire Department personnel got the two out of the truck and took them to IU Health Bloomington Hospital. The 33-year-old man was taken into emergency surgery but died from his injuries. The 5-year-old boy was flown by LifeLine helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital and was in critical condition Monday afternoon, according to the release.

Police said a second vehicle failed to stop at a red light and crashed into the truck as it turned left from westbound Ind. 46 onto the I-69 ramp. The release said the 46-year-old Bloomington woman driving the vehicle was hospitalized with injuries from the crash.
