Bloomington police make arrest in weekend fatal crash

Bloomington police have arrested a woman who allegedly caused a fatal crash Saturday at the south I-69 on-ramp at State Road 46.

Charity D. Hall, 46, was released from the IU Health Bloomington hospital and taken into police custody Tuesday afternoon. She is being held in the Monroe County jail on these charges:

  • Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death, level 4 felony
  • Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing catastrophic Injury, level 4 felony
  • Reckless homicide, level 5 felony
  • Battery against a public safety official, level 6 felony
  • Resisting law enforcement, class A misdemeanor

Police said Hall’s vehicle failed to stop at a red light and crashed into a truck as it turned left from westbound Ind. 46 onto the I-69 ramp.

Saturday’s accident left a 33-year-old man dead and his 5-year-old son in critical condition. Police have not released their names.
