Bloomington Police have arrested a man for the Sept. 1 sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman in the Morton Street parking garage.
The suspect was identified quickly as Andre Hardy, 27, of Joliet, Ill. Several tips came in after security camera photos were released to the public.
The victim told police that her assault occured after 10 p.m. She noticed a man following her as she walked up the ramp to the fourth level of the garage, looking for her car. He grabbed her and forced her into a parking space where he sexually assaulted her. The suspect reportedly fled when the victim began yelling and heard footsteps approach.
Hardy has been charged with rape, criminal confinement, and sexual battery.
Bloomington Police, and U.S. Marshals and deputies from the Will County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hardy in Joliet at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday.
Hardy is jailed at the Will County Adult Detention Facility while he waits for extradition to Monroe County.
