Indiana State Police and the Mt. Vernon Police department arrested 26-year-old Mt. Vernon man Devin Morrison Thursday afternoon under charges that his neglect caused the death of his 10-month-old daughter.

On the morning of Sept. 8, Posey County EMS responded to a 9-1-1 call requesting an ambulance. Paramedics found the infant alive but unresponsive. She died later that day at the St. Vincent Hospital from a hemorrhage caused by multiple skull fractures.

Following an autopsy on Sept. 12, the Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office ruled the death a homicide.

Morrison was arrested at his home and taken to the Posey County Jail. He faces the charge of neglect of a dependent causing death, a level 1 felony.
