IU’s Pi Kappa Alpha chapter was placed on cease and desist Monday, according to IU’s list of organizations on disciplinary status.
The University says the reasons are endangering others and alcohol violations. This is the second time this year the chapter has been disciplined, the first time being in April.

According to the student affairs office, cease and desist is an interim limit on certain aspects of chapter operations when there is an immediate threat or ongoing investigation. While on cease and desist, all chapter activities are suspended.
Pi Kappa Alpha has been on elevated disciplinary probation since July 2022 and will remain on probation through June 30, 2023. A disciplinary probation extension will take effect July 1, 2023, and continue through Dec. 31, 2023.
This marks the fourth fraternity placed on cease and desist in September; the others are Sigma Alpha Mu, Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alpha Epsilon Phi.
