An Edgewood Middle School student was apprehended with a gun this morning after another student alerted school administrators.
According to an email sent to families by superintendent Jerry Sanders, School Resource Officers and administrators were able to take the gun from the student without incident. The email also said that there is no active threat at the middle school.
This is the second reported incident of a middle school student attempting to bring a gun to school in Monroe County this semester. In September, a Batchelor Middle School student was arrested on the bus en route to school.
