Paoli Peaks is already making snow to get ready to open for its winter activities. The winter experience this year will include skiing and tubing from late December through to February.
“Quite a bit has changed in one year…We were able to open our ski resort for seven days of the week, full hours. We've also got all lifts will be running this year,” said Christopher Shadid, general manager of Paoli Peaks. “So [we are] really excited to activate the double lift, which is a really good beginner zone for us, as well as increase our park offerings and continue to elevate the feel and look of the operation here.”
The southern Indiana ski opens on Christmas Eve at 12:00 p.m.
Last year, it was reported the resort was down to one or two lifts running a day. The tubing hill and midnight skiing were also closed all of last season. The resort had long lines, limited trails and didn’t open until mid-January, and then only for seven hours a day Thursday through Sunday.

The pandemic, limited natural snow and warmer weather during Christmas time made last year challenging, Shadid said. The optimism this year allows for more employees.
“Part of the ability for us to have a larger staff this year is we have been able to increase our pay. We're offering 40% off of retail for our associates, and then we're going to be offering dollar rentals for our associates,” Shadid said. “So quite a few perks that have been rolled out to help recruit and retain our current staff here.”
