According to a probable cause affidavit, Washburn claimed Lamb was in the road when his vehicle struck her. He also told officers the collision was unavoidable because he was on his phone and didn’t see her until it was too late.

However, a driver who was in front of Washburn told police he saw, in his rearview mirror, a Pontiac cross the center line into the grass where Lamb was standing.

Washburn tested positive for opioids after being taken into custody. The victim, 50 year-old Stacy Lamb died of her injuries in the hospital on June 10, 2022 after being hit near the intersection of Airport Road and Kirby Road.
