Post-season awards are starting to come in for the Indiana Women's Basketball program. Head coach Teri Moren is the Big Ten's coach of the year. Senior forward Mackenzie Holmes is IU's first ever Big Ten defensive player of the year. Six other players earned conference awards announced Tuesday.
This is Moren's second Big Ten coach of the year honor. She was also coach of the year in 2016 and is the first IU head coach to earn the honor twice.
The Hoosiers (26-2, 16-2) won the Big Ten regular season championship outright for the first time in 40 years setting a program record for wins and tied for most conference wins in a single season. IU leads the nation with nine Top 25 wins and five Top 10 wins this season and are ranked number 2 in the polls.
Holmes averages a team-high 22.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.9 blocks - leading the Big Ten in shooting 69.5 percent from the floor.
Indiana is the overall No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and will face either Nebraska or Michigan State Friday at 12:30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
