Multiple cyclists were injured in a crash during the Candy Stripe Classic collegiate bicycle race Saturday in the Morgan-Monroe State Forest.

Mauricio Brito, a participant in the race, said about seven people were involved and two injured in the crash that happened in the second or third mile of the Men’s D category road race.

Brito said one of the cyclists in the accident was badly injured and was carried out on a stretcher with a bloody face.

Sixty people registered for the D category race.

Bloomington Velo and IU’s Cycling Club sponsored the Candy Stripe Classic and could not be reached for comment about the accident.
