Gov. Eric Holcomb has appointed Isaac Torres to the IU Board of Trustees.

Torres is an Indiana University South Bend alumnus and entrepreneur. He is president and CEO of InterCambio Express, which he developed during his time pursuing his masters at IU.

Torres said in a statement that the time he spent at IU South Bend gave him the tools and knowledge to launch his company.

The university board is responsible for governing many aspects of the university, including financial operations. The nine-member board consists of six members chosen by the governor, including one student position, and three elected members.

Holcomb said he chose Torres for his “entrepreneurial spirit and service to his community.”

Torres is replacing retiring trustee Dr. Michael Mirro, who has been on the board since 2014.

President Pamela Whitten said:

“His success in business and his track record of service to Indiana will be instrumental as we pursue our ambitious IU 2030 goals.”
