Authorities are still investigating a weekend arrest of a Bloomington man for murder.

Police responded to a disturbance around 1:30 a.m. Saturday at a residence on East State Road 45.

They found a man, 34-year-old Bryce Leighton from Bloomington, and a deceased person with an apparent gunshot wound in their head. The individual was later identified as 48-year-old Tara Langley of Bloomington. Police also found an AR-15-style rifle and a civilian-style stun gun lying near the body. Neighbors said the residents of the home often fight.

Police took Leighton to the Monroe County sheriff’s office and was later moved to the correctional center for murder, a level 1 felony.

A pretrial conference has been scheduled for Jan. 3, 2024.
