Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man they consider “armed and dangerous” following an early morning shooting Monday in Stinesville.
According to a press release, 64-year-old Bret Sherrow is suspected of shooting his neighbor in the buttocks as the neighbor fled from an altercation. Sherrow, who officers said is 5-foot-10, 200 pounds, then ran away on foot and has not been located.
IU Health Bloomington Police Department called the sheriff’s office early Monday morning to report a male had arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound.
The victim, and the person who drove him to the hospital, told officers they were on the victim’s property when a man they identified as Sherrow came onto the property. The victim said he “saw the suspect pull a gun out and then place it in his pocket,” according to the release.
The victim said Sherrow then started shoving him, so he pulled out his pepper spray and “tried to spray the suspect but it didn’t work.” Seeing Sherrow fumbling with his gun, the victim took off running and was struck in the rear by a single shot.
Officers ask if you know the whereabouts of Sherrow to call the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at (812) 349-2781.
