Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson has ordered a series of reviews into ongoing city work.

She announced the review Friday – her fifth day in office.

In a statement, Thomson said her team will “report its findings and work to create greater efficiency and transparency.”

The order includes an independent audit of city finances by an outside accounting firm, a review of litigation the city is involved in, and an analysis of constituent response times.

The order also calls the creation of resident-led working groups on the Showers West and Hopewell projects.

Showers West seeks to relocate the police department from its current station on Third Street to the western part of city hall.

The project has been a source of friction between city officials and hit a roadblock in December after the city council rejected the sale of the police station.

Former Mayor John Hamilton planned to use proceeds from the sale to help pay for the Showers West project.

The Hopewell project seeks to bring mixed-income housing to the former site of the I-U Health Bloomington Hospital.
