Three Indiana men’s basketball players are in the transfer portal, according to the 24/7 Sports Website which tracks portal activity.

Kaleb Banks, C.J. Gunn, and Payton Sparks were all added to the site Tuesday afternoon, the day after the portal officially opened.

Banks and Gunn are sophomore reserves who were four-star recruits two years ago. Banks played in 21 of IU’s 33 games and saw little action the last two months of the season. He averaged 2.6 points per game. Gunn played in 29 games and averaged 3.9 points per game. He was the leading scorer for IU with 17 points in the Hoosiers season-ending game against Nebraska in the Big Ten Tournament.

Sparks transferred from Ball State to IU for his junior season and started the year as a solid back-up center to Kel’el Ware. But he also played little during the last half of the season, seeing action in 24 games and averaging 2.1 points per game.

Only seniors Trey Galloway and Anthony Leal have said they will definitely be back in Hoosier uniforms next season – a fifth year granted because of COVID-19.

IU finished the season 19-14 and did not make the NCAA tournament under third-year coach Mike Woodson.
