The city is rebuilding Bryan Park Playground near the basketball courts this month.
The goal is to make the playground safer and more accessible for children. The playground was originally installed in 1999, and was the oldest playground in Bloomington.
This renovation will not affect the playground area closest to South Henderson Street.
The city gathered over 400 survey responses from the community on their preferred types of playground equipment in 2023.

Equipment supplier company Snider Recreation Inc. will be installing the new equipment. There will be two new slides, a carousel, swings and more. New rubber safety surfacing will also be installed. The entire project, including the equipment, installation and rubber safety surfacing, will cost approximately $359,770. Funding comes from the American Rescue Plan Act Funds.
The city has already removed the old playground equipment, and will begin installing new equipment in April. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new playground sometime later in the spring.
