Bloomington parks and downtown officials say there are too many logistical issues to reschedule the annual Fourth of July parade.

Event officials said they are committed to ensuring the safety of the participants and spectators and canceled the parade the morning of the Fourth due to the potential of severe thunderstorms.

In a news release Thursday, officials said rescheduling a parade takes coordination with participants, spectators, street closures, security, and reallocating resources that makes rescheduling impractical.

The city provided more opportunities to participate in other events and activities throughout the year.
