Law enforcement later identified the woman as Samaya Ivory.

A woman was arrested after fleeing from law enforcement Friday.

According to a release, Bartholomew County Deputy Ryan Smith was driving north on State Street in Columbus when he saw a southbound SUV traveling an estimated 80 mph.

The SUV’s driver, later identified as Samaya Ivory, pulled into the Columbus East High School parking lot. She got out of the car and tried to run into the school but the doors were locked.

A Columbus police officer and Deputy Smith grabbed Ivory, but she resisted and all three fell. Smith scraped his elbow and knees from the collision.

Deputy Smith said he felt Ivory grab his weapon before they placed her in handcuffs.

Ivory was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital and kicked another deputy in the chest while being checked for injuries.

Ivory was then taken to Bartholomew County Jail, where she was booked on charges of reckless driving, two counts of battery, resisting law enforcement and attempting to disarm enforcement.

Ivory was also listed as a missing person in the Columbus Police Department.
