Bloomington police are searching for a suspect in a bank robbery Tuesday morning.
Officers arrived at the JCBank on Walnut Street at a little before noon after receiving a panic button alert.
Witness reports said a man entered the bank with a face covering and handed a note to the teller demanding money. The teller gave the man the money and he ran away on foot, according to police.
BPD notified Bloomington High School South, and school officials sent out an alert to parents shortly after. Students were not allowed to leave the school.
While those in the school sheltered in place, officers searched around the bank, the school and nearby areas but did not find the suspect.
A follow-up message was sent out to Bloomington South parents at 2:18 p.m. that BPD deemed the school day safe to continue as normal.
BPD requests that anyone with information contact Detective Rob Shrake.
