A Bloomington man is facing felony charges after the Bloomington Police Department arrested him for rape.
BPD arrested Rodrigo Perez Curiel on Monday. He’s facing three charges: rape while armed with a deadly weapon, escape, and a misdemeanor charge for resisting law enforcement.
On September 29 just before 6 a.m., a woman reported she had been sexually assaulted by an unknown man. The victim had been walking near the roundabout at 17 th Street and Arlington Road.
Investigators identified Curiel by using surveillance camera footage of a vehicle believed to be driven by the suspect before and after the attack. He was arrested October 1.
While waiting to be transferred to jail custody, Curiel ran out an open door while handcuffed. Police pursued and tackled Curiel and took him back to the Monroe County Jail. His bond is set at $100,000.
