Sibling Cities USA to host virtual town hall on housing this weekend

Bloomington and Palo Alto are the first pair of sibling cities. They signed the inaugural agreement in 2022.
Bloomington and Palo Alto are the first pair of sibling cities. They signed the inaugural agreement in 2022.

Sibling Cities USA will host a virtual town hall this Sunday to discuss housing affordability. Bloomington and Palo Alto are the first sibling cities in a national partnership meant to build bridges between communities across the nation.

A 2018 report from the National Low Income Housing Coalition says Bloomington has the most expensive housing in the state. Palo Alto also has high housing costs.

The town hall will foster a discussion on how both communities are tackling affordability, access, and homelessness. A delegation from Bloomington, led by Mayor Kerry Thomson, will connect with counterparts in Palo Alto. Registration is online for those planning to attend. It will take place Sunday, October 13 from 4-5:30pm.
