Voters returned incumbent Republican Erin Houchin to a second term in Congress on Tuesday with a victory over Democrat Tim Peck in the 9th District.
Rep. Houchin, from Salem, had 61.7 percent of the vote with about two-thirds of precincts reporting. She won 63.6 percent of the vote in 2022.
The seat was considered safely Republican by the respected nonpartisan Cook Political Report. Houchin did not debate Peck or Libertarian Russell Brooksbank.
Peck, from New Washington, was a newcomer to elective politics who moved to Indiana 2020. His wife is from New Washington. Peck is a physician and entrepreneur.
