Fans eager to watch in person as Indiana University’s football team takes on Notre Dame in the first round of the College Football Playoffs should be prepared to open their checkbooks.
Asking prices for tickets at secondary market sites such as SeatGeek and StubHub started at more than $1,000 on Monday and climbed to over $5,000.
Even parking passes carry hefty price tags, from about $500 to $2,000.
IU received 3,500 tickets to the game, which will go primarily to families of players and coaches.
The university is offering a limited number of tickets to students based on their football attendance record. If those students are selected in a lottery, they can purchase tickets.
The impact of the Hoosiers’ football success has gone as far as Winter Commencement. IU has adjusted the timing of its Winter Commencement ceremonies, which were originally scheduled for 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on gameday, Dec. 20.
The ceremonies will now start at 9 a.m. and noon, giving graduating students the opportunity to attend the game in South Bend.
Kickoff is scheduled for soon after 8 p.m.
