The City of Bloomington plans to add additional traffic barriers on East Third Street from March 17-22. The new barriers will be installed between South Rose Avenue and South Indiana Avenue.
The barriers will separate the street’s designated bike lane from the rest of the street. The city says it wants to protect cyclists and prevent drivers from using the lane for drop-offs.
The street’s current bike lane barriers were installed around this time last year. The city’s board of public works awarded the $35,200 contract to E&B Paving of Anderson, Ind.

There will be lane restrictions during construction. The city said additional barriers will not be placed at bus stops, intersections or driveways.
