World champion competitive eater Joey Chestnut broke his own popcorn-eating record Monday in Terre Haute.

Chestnut ate 42, 24-ounce servings of popcorn in eight minutes. He beat his previous record by 10 servings.

Hundreds came out to a Rural King location to watch Chestnut, from Westfield, Indiana, shatter his previous record.

“We got here bright and early and we got to get in line to meet him before he started going to the bag,” said Blake Hoover, a Chestnut fan who came dressed in a hotdog costume. “He was a super cool guy. He was telling us how he's gonna break the record today, and then we asked for signatures, and it's pretty good time.”

Chestnut holds over 55 eating world records and 16 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest titles.
