A police car sits on the side of the road. The Bloomington Police Department responded to the call at the request on-scene EMS.

Bloomington police are still investigating the death of a 14-year-old July 2.

Officers arrived at the home in the 500 block of West Hays Court around 7:30 a.m. A parent told investigators that they had found the teen unconscious on the floor.

An ambulance took the 14-year-old to the IU Health Bloomington Hospital where she was declared dead.

An autopsy completed July 7 did not determine a cause or manner of death.

At the Monroe County Council meeting on Tuesday, Council President Jennifer Crossley referred to posts on social media speculating on the cause of death.

“We were made aware of a social media post, and the investigative detective made contact with a poster,” said police Captain Ryan Pedigo. “The case remains active.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Rob Shrake at (812)349-3352.
