Benjamin Jackson, former Columbus Township Trustee in Bartholomew County, has been arrested.
According to court documents, Jackson allegedly made personal purchases on township credit cards dating back to 2016, totaling around $1.1 million.
In October of 2024, an anonymous source notified the Indiana State Board of Accounts that Jackson was using credit cards for personal expenses. An audit conducted by the board determined $1,123,334.27 was used for personal expenses, $121,093.58 was used for township business, and $39,344.19 was listed as “questionable expenses.”
Jackson is facing 18 charges, including felony corrupt business influence, forgery, official misconduct, and theft. His bond has been set at $50,000 or 10 percent cash. Special Judge Matthew Bailey has been appointed to oversee the case.
Jackson took office in July 2013 and resigned in November 2024.
A hearing date has not been scheduled.
